One of my favorite things about writing magical realism is that it encourages me to ask, “What if?”
What if something ordinary wasn’t quite as ordinary as it seemed?
What if a place carried memories? What if a simple object held a lesson we weren’t ready to learn until the perfect moment? What if life occasionally gave us gentle reminders that there is more going on beneath the surface than we realize?
I don’t write about grand displays of magic. I’m much more interested in the quiet moments that make us pause and wonder.
Sometimes all it takes is a coincidence that feels too perfect, an unexpected conversation, or a dream that stays with us long after we wake up.
Those little moments can change the way we see ourselves, even if nothing around us has changed at all.
Have you ever experienced something that made you stop and think, “That can’t just be a coincidence”? I’d love to hear your story in the Chat.
