One of the reasons I love writing romance later in life is because the characters already know that life isn’t perfect.
They’ve celebrated victories, survived disappointments, made mistakes, and learned lessons they never expected to learn. They’re not looking for fairy tales. They’re looking for something real.
To me, that makes their love stories even more meaningful.
There is something beautiful about finding connection after you’ve lived enough to appreciate it. The butterflies are still there, but they’re joined by patience, understanding, and the confidence to be yourself.
I think we sometimes forget that new beginnings aren’t reserved for the young. Every stage of life offers opportunities for friendship, adventure, and yes, romance.
It’s never too late to discover something that makes your heart a little lighter.
