I’ve often wondered why cozy mysteries are so... well... cozy.
After all, they usually begin with a murder. That doesn’t sound particularly comforting.
But somehow, they leave us feeling satisfied instead of unsettled. I think it’s because they remind us that kindness still exists, communities matter, and even when something goes terribly wrong, people come together to make things right.
I love creating characters who have extraordinary abilities, but who are still wonderfully human. Their unique gifts help them uncover clues that others might miss, yet it is their compassion, curiosity, and determination that truly guide them to the truth.
The mystery is always exciting, but it’s the characters, their relationships, and the charming communities they call home that make each story feel like a place readers want to visit again and again.
There’s also something comforting about knowing that by the last page, most of the questions will be answered. In a world where so much feels uncertain, that little bit of closure is a welcome escape.
